1. Our commitment
WorkTag is built on the principle that identity verification must be used responsibly. The verification products on this platform access sensitive personal information from authoritative sources. We are committed to ensuring this data is used only for lawful, legitimate purposes.
2. Permitted uses
Verification results may only be used for: confirming a job applicant's identity for recruitment purposes; fraud detection and prevention in a labour or commercial context; background screening where the data subject has consented; any purpose expressly permitted by applicable South African law.
3. Prohibited uses
You may not use verification results to: discriminate on grounds prohibited by the Employment Equity Act or any other law; harass, stalk, or surveil any individual; build profiles for marketing or commercial purposes unrelated to employment; share with third parties outside the context of the original lookup; make automated decisions without human review where required by law.
4. Lawful basis & documentation
Employers must have a documented lawful basis (typically consent or contractual necessity) for each lookup. Records of consent should be retained for at least 3 years. WorkTag may audit employer usage and require documentation on request.
5. Data security obligations
All users must protect verification results from unauthorised access. Results must be stored securely if retained and must be disposed of when no longer needed. Any suspected breach involving verification results must be reported to privacy@worktag.co.za within 72 hours.
6. Age restrictions
Verification products may not be used in relation to any person under 18 years of age.
7. Regulatory compliance
Use of the Service must comply with: POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013); the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (Regulation 18 — fraud detection); the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998; and any other applicable South African legislation.
8. Enforcement
